Yeh something has gone really badly wrong in Society over the last 20 years I agree.

Plus..why people see hanging around in giant sized Shopping Malls as a pleasant day out... is totally beyond me?

Traipsing around some indoor Consumer Heaven, (but it's really Hell..look at it logically man.) Anyway, bobbing around those places has never been my idea of fun Surprised
I'm a firm believer we as humanity took a wrong turn somewhere between 1985 -1990, Consumerism has become the leisure activity 'choice' with added bk whooper and fries on the side (that's why your overweight dummy?). The quality of goods now, are sacrificed in the name of profitability,'scale',marketing etc

The reason why I drive a '85 BMW? - Car co's were being forced to go 'green' etc so they started making 'lighter cars' to save fuel, it was not lost on them that lighter cars made out of lighter plastic costs them less.. this is epidemic in manufacturing now, flimsy stuff, built in obsolencence, pride in profit not craftmanship and design. The Ironic thing is, cars now with all the bells and sat nav whistles are getting heavier, so not green at all? just shoddy plastic 'tat'

On the note of cars and the Green Issue, It's a lesser known fact that the drips of petrol from the pump nozzle hitting the fourcourt pollute the atmosphere more than the whole tankful being burnt in your car! 'Course changing and legislating every fuel pump and petrol cap on every car and fourcourt In the world would be ooh expensive I guess, & who'd have to pay ? guess why thats kept mighty quiet - (If you disagree with this - please go ahead - I dare you,I double dare you, I was told this by the best authority you can get & you will capitulate.)

What I am saying is something this guy is much better at communicating.

We are being conned on so many levels.

' Like any preacher worth his salt, the Rev. Billy has a dedicated congregation that he teaches how to walk the righteous path—albeit one of anti-consumerism. "We have a choir, we have a band, we have deacons," says Talen. "We have people that rise out of the congregation and have some serious flashes and pull their credit cards out of their wallets and fess up. There’s a feeling of release." But any comparison to a normal church service ends there. "We have a sort of post-religion spirituality," he says. "But we never use the word religion, we never use the word spirituality. All those words we consider to be products in themselves. They are all bankrupt. They are all used by people we don’t want to emulate. Something does happen at a Church of Stop Shopping service when it really gets rip-roaring. And whatever happens it’s a good thing. It’s attached to good values and it’s also just physically and psychically a pleasure." '

I guess what I'm trying to say is If we don't stop funding growing countries abroad with our cheap deals, our grand children will speak mandarin (probably not for happy travel reasons either). America is at the heart of this, A bully needs kids in the school playground to work effectively, and now all the other kids are off sick (russia) their attention has centred on China, the quiet geeky fat kid, but to have a decent 'war' they need to 'get 'em fit for the fight' and boy are they.... Just a thought.

The amount of giant sized luxury saloon cars, and pristine four wheels drive vehicles owned and driven by most parents here, is outrageous.. I wonder, do any of them consider Global Warming - or just their cool image ??? Surprised
Do I sound green with envy?? well it's because I AM!! Dammit..Gimme a Mercedes Benz NOW Smile

Instead of getting more civilised, we are getting less.

You only have to look at certain posts placed by a certain person on various sites in the last few months.

Consummerism, we all have to have the latest thing, widescreen tvs, the latest hi fi, DVD players, COMPUTERS. The must haves of the early 21st Century.

More people own a car, when I was a kid you could play in the street as hardly anyone had a car. Now almost everybody has at least one. Maybe if public transport (something else that has gone down the pan) was better more would leave the car at home.

Children, some (so called) adults should not be allowed to have them. All they do is send them out to play and don't care what sort of mischief they got up to.

(Here I go again) When I was young we went out, we mucked about, but if you were caught out you held your hands up and moved on if an adult said anything. These days you just get abuse if you say anything to kids, and some of their parents give abuse if you say anything about their "little darlings".

Look at the violence on tv, the bad language and threatened violence in chart records. There has been drugs, violence and sex in records for years, but those songs were never played on the radio, especially not to a younger audience. Kids today are told that thuggery is the way of life.

Yes, it all seemed to go wrong in those 80s years. How do you get things back on track ?
