Us Brits (in general) can't be bothered to learn a foreign language, as we have colonised so much of the world, English is so widely spoken and we are too arrogant to bother, expecting others to speak our language.
Foreigners get the last laugh though.
How many times have you been in a shop in another country, the assistant speaks to you in English, but continues a conversation in their own language.
Ever get the feeling they may be talking about you, or is it just paranoia. |

I dunno if it's that guys..it's just that we don't know which one to learn for the best.."Now let's see.. will it be Spanish French German Swedish etc?? ..nah can't make a decision ..I'll stick with my own lingo, can't go wrong then.
Meanwhile in France a gormless looking man is spluttering and gesturing with his hands for a French stick and some ham and tomatoes! |

My 12 year old daughter is learning Spanish at school and will be going to Barcelona in July. We are going to Lanzarote too next week, which should give her the chance to use some of her language skills.
She has been doing really well in class, so I hope she can cope with the practical. |
