Thanks for the advice Stussy. Just thought I would let you know that I ordered some and so far so good! My engine is definitely running smoother and quieter, no more smoke either. I have recommended it to my family and friends too! Worth a try if you are still considering it. Smile

Hi Harry, if you follow the instructions and use the correct type of oil then RESTORE will repair any worn engine. Just be sure to use a new filter and be sure not to use friction reducers: here are some videos as to what is going on in your engine:

the best idea is to drain and save your Magnatec and any other friction reducing ester based oils or additives or you will have to wait up to 4000 miles to see improvements (see below for actual client Richard Husband who did what you are proposing to do) . if you use ordinary supermarket type oil and RESTORE you will see improvements in a worn engine in under 500 miles. I just don't want you to shoot yourself in your foot by not following the factory instructions:

20 March 2007 - 1996 Volvo 960 3.0 24V Estate - current mileage 173,000. We had a long telephone on 25 May 2006 when I voiced my disappointment at RESTORE not improving the car's engine oil consumption beyond its 500 miles per litre before the treatment started. During the course of the conversation it came out that I was topping up with GTX Magnatec oil which would inhibit RESTORE from working its wonders. So another (complimentary) RESTORE treatment was added at the 10,000 miles service in June and I topped up with Tesco Supergrade 10W/40.....it took a long time before any lasting improvement was obtained, but the progress made in the last 4,000 miles has been very welcome. The car's next 10,000 miles service is due shortly and I should like to order 3 more cans of RESTORE. Richard Husband, UK.
Here is the second link about friction reducing oils - ie money saving tips on car repairs:

IS RESTORE GOOD FOR MY ENGINE? Yes, RESTORE is an extreme pressure lubricant in its own right, but it also reverses engine wear, providing there are no friction-reducers in the oil e.g. Slick 50, Prolong, Activ8, Motorup, STP and Wynn’s friction-reducers, PTFE, Teflon, Chlorine, Moly and the new range of plant Esters such as Magnatec, and Silkolene R racing oils which contain positively charged particles which stick to metals. This kind of oil or additive will work against RESTORE being successful. If you have had friction-reducers in your engine recently, it’s best to flush the engine before using RESTORE. However, once RESTORE has worked its magic you can go back to your normal additive package if you wish ..............

so ... it is all down to following the instructions if you want to have a successful worn engine RESTORE. Let me know OK?

Hi

Did an engine flush on the last oil change but i am currently using Moly in the engine. Shall i wait for the next flush, usually done in summer, or is OK to drain the oil and replace with Tesco's motor oil + Restore for next service?

Thanks
