Hi msjayjay.

I had my BR last tuesday, so I've got some experience with these things! At your consultation they will do a number of things with you. They will firstly ask you why you want the operation, what size you are and what problems you have been experiencing as a result of this. Depending on the answers they give they may then decided to weigh you, and check your BMI, as well as your blood pressure and weight. The PS will talk you through the proceedure, and particularly point out some of the things that can go wrong as a result of it. The point of this meeting is to determine firstly if you are a viable candidate for the op, and secondly to see if the operation is the best thing for you. Depending on you PCT you may then be referred for a psych assesment, though I wasn't. They may give you an answer there and then. Mine did (and I was a bit shocked as I thought it would be harder work than that), but they may also take time to deliberate the case, and possibly they may well schedule a second consult pending weight loss. It all depends on the individual case and the criteria of your PCT. All you can do is be honest and tell them exactly how you feel about this op, you need to demonstrate that it will have a positive effect on your health and mental well being. Also, use it to talk through any questions and concerns you may have as if you get accepted then things can sometimes move very fast from thereon in!

From referrel to now ive had to go to the hospital once, just for a pre opp assesment. I had that on saturday, i got some bloods took, queations asked etc. The nurse also spoke to me again about all the risks and showed me some photos of people who had previouly had it done.Im so pleased I can not wait for my op. good luck for the op!!

i had mine done on 4th nov - went from a 36g to 36d. Surgoen recommended going to D/DD, but the decision between the two sizes was up to me. he also showed me pics of someone who had been similar to me but went to a C cup, and explained that it looked too small for her frame. i had to agree.
unless you want to go reallly small, i would recommend listening to what the surgeon thinks, as they consider what will suit your body. you didn't say what size you are at the minute so can't imagine what the difference in size wil be, but hope all goes well!! the pain does not last forever by the way!!!

Thanks rach. im getting a bit scared now. Sad . I am currently a 32g. I am a size10 in dress size so u can imagine my boobs look quite big on my frame, I still would not like to go down to a c cup I would feel to small then. I feel beta now I know I probably will have some choice in what size I want to be.

This will be the last time i write b4 my op. Ill let you all no how it goes.
Very Happy

Hi everyone, I would just like to thank everyone for this site, it's made me realise just that I am not the only woman with this problem and it's given me the courage to finally go see my GP. It's been a problem for me since I was 13 years old and a 34 EE.
I am now 43 years old and an embarrassing and back aching 32H. My GP has just written to get me an psyciactric evaluation done so that she can put it to the PCT when they next meet. So fingers crossed they will allow me to have the much needed op.

To the 2 ladies in Leicester,

Which doctors did you go to?? I live in glenfield but still registered in evington. I was planning on booking an appt with a female doc this week but am feeling a little deterred now.

What shall i do. Am so fed up. I finally cried today reading all these posts. Im 23, size 10-12 and 32 j cup. How ridiculous. The back pain has only just started in the last few months but some days i struggle to move out of bed because of it!

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I'm 18, and a 30 E, I dont look too top-heavy, but I feel it.
I was in an F-cup by 12 and its flucutated since then, through weight loss I got it down to a D but I was underweight, and believe it or not had the makings of an eating disorder, which i believe was caused by the size of my chest and the tender age I've had it from.
From 11, I've had grown men say vile things to me, I've hated it since the day and hour my chest started developing, my self esteem is sub-zero and I have chronic back and shoulder pain, up top I'm a size 10 and my waist is a 6, I'm 5ft and although my friend assures me I don't actually look like tits on slits, I feel it.
I really want to get a reduction done, I'd have to do it on the NHS but I don't know if i'm 'big enough' to fit their criteria.
I'm thinking of making an appointment with a female doctor for some time soon, I just really want my life back or to have one at all.

Hi there i realise that this is an old post, did you have the op in the end?

Your situation is similar to mine. I am from Leicester i saw my gp in Evington she reffered me within 5 mins of seeing me.

Glenfield was not avaliable to see a surgen so i went to Nuneaton and saw Dr Radzkilla. He agreed that i would qualify for the surgery this was before Easter. I called to chase his recommendation to my GP last week so hopefully they should have recieved it by now. Not sure the time turn around from my Doctor producing the letter to the PCT agreeing to a surgey date (can anyone shed some light onto this?)

If i wer you id keep trying a am a 34f but im busting out so i may be bigger now and i weigh 9 stones and the surgen agreed that i am a suitable candidate.
Gooduck.

Hi there i go to the surgery on Downing Drive in Evington and i saw Dr Ball she was very helpful.

I had to go to Nuneaton because there was no surgen avaliable in Glenfield. I was told i do qualify because i meet the criteria. Just waiting on Dr Ball to write to the PCT for funding.

If i can be accepted you will too just emphasis on everything.

I felt so horrible about my chest that i went on a starvation diet, the Dr records everything so everything you say will help support your case.

Goodluck and keep me posted. I will let you know what happens with my case.

I'm a 34JJ,5ft 5 and i live in Sheffield. I was a 34GG by the time I was 16, and I'm now 22. On my bottom half i fit into a 14. When I went to my doctor a couple of years ago she suggested I try and lose some weight. However, when I lose weight, my boobs stay the same size, and when I gain weight, they get bigger!
I want to go see her again as it's really affecting my life; chronic neck pain, awful back ache, rashes, not to mention the effect it has on me emotionally. I can't fit into any normal clothes, can't buy shirts or blouses. I spend a fortune on bras. I feel like a circus freak.
I think it's awful that those of us who need surgery have to fight for it. Like that girl who had to write a pleading email to the Sheffield doctors.
Also, Is it true that BMI has to be under 27? I'm definitely higher than that, however, if my breasts weren't so large and disgusting then maybe I'd have a lower BMI in the first place, as it doesn't take these kinds of things into consideration.

Oh my god! I know exactly how you feel. I'm 22 with 34JJ boobs! I'm only 5ft 1" tall and so they look horrendous! I get extreme back pain as well as pain in my breasts. I struggle to lay on my back or my front at night. I've also started to get a "hump" on the top of my back and am convinced this is due to the size of my boobs. I went to my doctors a while ago and was fobbed off saying it was water retention and so they tried my on lots of different types of contraceptive pill which had no effect! They then tried to say I needed to lose a stone! My breasts keep growing and when i've lost weight in the past it's had no effect on the size of my boobs, in fact they've got bigger! She's basically told me that I've got to lose a stone in weight before they'll refer me. I've tried to lose weight but to be honest, doing exercise with JJ cup breasts isn't the easiest thing! Was in tears today when I tried to do an exercise dvd and couldn't do half of the exercises coz they hurt! I've rang up the doctors and have booked another appointment even though I've lost no weight at all. I'm just fed up and this "hump" on my back is gettin bigger as well as painful! I've got a BMI of about 30.

I had my first docs appt a fortnight ago and was referred to a consultant at Rugby hospital as the wait in Leicester was too long for me.
Apparently my doctor wrote a very strong letter of support for me and the consultant also agreed he would support me as my breasts were far too large for my frame. I am waiting to hear the results for funding now as i am aware there isn't a lot around for this type of op anymore.

I will say that i was slightly put off my him telling me that i may need 2 operations, one for the reduction and then one to tidy up the excess skin that would be left. I am going form a 32 J to an E he said.

I have to lose 2 kilos, which is the exact weight they shall take form my breasts.Tthey are very particular so if you think you may need to lose weight, do it now not later!
