Hi,
I'm not exactly what you are looking for, so will understand if you dont reply but...I am seriously considering breast reduction for myself...largely vanity - I hate my unevenly sized, pendulous 36E/F breasts. Fortunatley, I dont experience the back ache that other larger breasted ladies report...and wondered, 7 months on from posting your message, how are you, and are you pleased you had the op?

I can relate totally with the way you feel. I to was a size 36F. I didn't experience back aches like some other women, but it did affect me psychologically. I think the final straw for myself was when I was on holiday with my family and my friend and her family. We were all going to be going swimming. I went to buy a swimming costume and wouldn't come out of the chaging room - let alone go swimming.

I decided then that my large breasts were affecting my quality of life and decided to go to my doctor and ask for a breast reduction.

I had been referred for this operation ten years previously - but had backed out of it.

When I asked my doctor to refer me she was really nice about this - but did explain that it is quite difficult to get this operation done on the NHS these days unless they feel there is a genuine reason for having this done.

On my first visit to the hospital my height and weight was taken then the doctor explained briefly the procedure to me.

He then explained, after listening to my reasons that he was willing to refer me but I had to lose weight first. I am 5'2" tall and weighed 11 stone. I was a size 12 on my bottom half. He asked me to lose 12lbs.

After losing this weight I was put on the waiting list and got my appointment 18 months from when I first went to my doctor to ask for this operation.

They explained that they would make me in proportion with the rest of my body. I went down to surgery at 8.30 a.m. The operation takes approx. 3-4 hours. When I came around I was quite tender - but not as sore as a thought I would be (and my pain threshhold is almost zero!!). I got out of hospital after 2 days. I was quite tired for the first week and couldn't do a lot for myself - e.g. washing my hair. All my stitiches were disolving stitches apart from around my nipples, which were removed after 10 days.

I took Arnica tablets before my operation and used Arnica cream after my operation for the bruising. I have also been using Decleor cream and oil for the scarring. I don't know whether it is my natural healing process or whether the tablets and creams have helped but the scarring after 5 weeks is so minimal. I am now a size 36D and don't regret it one bit. I only wish I had got it done sooner.

It is so good now to go shopping a nd look at tops knowing they are going to fit you - I am now a size 10/12 instead of 16/18.

I am still a bit numb under my breasts at the moment but all sensation have come back to my nipples (they explain that you may lose all sensation to this area).

So my advice is go for it. I hope this has helped you.

I had a breast reduction 10 weeks ago. I went from a 34G to a 34D. I'm 5'7" and a size 14 top and bottom (B4 I had to wear size 16 tops.)It's such an improvement, but I have been wondering if I should have gone smaller still. At least exercising is easier now and I wouldn't think twice about running, whereas before it was too uncomfortable to do so. My posture has improved and people notice I stand taller. One person I hadn't seen since B4 the op said there was something different about me but didn't know what (until I told her!) Other people ask if I've lost weight (yes, 3lbs.) I would recommend anyone get it done if they were as miserable as I was B4.

Hiya, Im 16, and im a 32GG and a size 6/8 clothes on bottom and 14/16 on top. I was wondering whether anyone who had had a reduction tell me how old i would have to be to get one, and what the scars are like, and does it stop the back pain, and even when you get it done to people still make comments, look at you and the regular stuff. If anyone has any information whatsoeva for me, i would be very appreciative, for i am fed up to being reffered to as "the girl with big tits". Email me at ickle_emzie@hotmail.con. thanx x.x.x.x.x.x.x.x.x

I removed this post as I have been contacted by various perverts posing as women seeking breast reductions.

As a word of advice, please do not post your personal email address here-stick to the thread as means of communication.

I am a 32 H and have a love/hate relationship with my breasts. I was on a waiting list in Nottingham for 18 months and never even got to speak to a doctor. When I moved down to Buckinghamshire I spoke to my doctor and within a month had seen a consultant and was told I could have the op within 6 months - probably mid august. One big hurrah for the NHS, though i know it varies massively in each authority.

I am really interested in hearing from people post op - I am getting a bit concerned about the recovery and also how small should I go?

Anyone out there?

Hi, I've just noticed that when you click on the SEARCH icon beside your posting you get taken to another link with any items using the same "name" as yourself. I done this ands realised that there were links to my name regarding the break-up of my long-term relationship and thinking that my fiancee was having an affair.

I would just like to point out that these "Donna's" are not myself. I'd hate to think that people thinking of having a breast reduction thought this was me and my relationship broke up after the operation.

I can assure you that my relationship is still going strong, even after having my breast reduction. I just wanted to reassure people who were worried about the affect having this operation may have on their relationships.

I am a male that had to have Breast Reduction surgery several years ago. My reduction was for vanity as I was kidded about the size of my chest by other males. At the time I was playing American Football so I was in good shape but had this extra tissue in the breast area. When in the locler room some of the men would say things like you have bigger boobs than my sister, so my breast reduction was requested and done. The second year with the team I got no comments as before also my scars were around the nipples and did not show. I have always been glad I had it done. Good Luck to you.

Hi all,

I am 20, a size 8 but with 32G breasts. I had the most emberrassing time at M & S at the weekend shopping for underwear-simply because none of the bras fit! At one point the woman had me in a maternity bra: imagine the ambarrassment when even that didn't fit!

Thing is i have been to my doctor who has told me that the NHs are no longer doing breast reductions on the NHS (people currently on waiting lists won't be affected) but they aren't accepting any new referrals. So what are we supposed to do? I feel so angry, if i had gone last year they would have refused saying that i was too young, and yet they take on breast enlargements under psychological cases? What does everyone else think about this, and has anyone else had the same experience?

x

Hi Cher,

i really feel for you, think we are all going through the same thing. Take it up with the bra manufacturer????? obviously we have problems that our boobs are too big if the manufacturers are chooisng not to make them in our size??????It is so frustrating because if we had a bad leg, or a dodgy heart (you know where im coming from) something would have to be done. But simply because so many people see breast surgery as cosmetic rather than for health reasons it s us who are suffering. Why would we choose to put ourselves through such hurrendous surgery for the sake of it? If the NHS feel that BR's are not necessary why have they done them for so many years in the past??

You go Cher, fight your case accordingly, and good luck to you in doing it. Make sure you keep us all updated.

By the way thanks for your support. I have been to my doctor who said that she feels i am a prime candidate for BR and is now writing to the chief executive of South Mancehster PCT in order to get a referral.

We shall wait and see..............

Keep your chin up Cher, you'll get there in the end xx

I am thinking about having a BR done privately ( was told by GP this morning that in Bristol they will only do NHS BR's if your spine is in danger of cracking - she wasn't very impressed). She recommended I try BUPA and they have two (male) surgeons, but how do i know which one to choose? It costs £120 for a consult so I need to make a decision before I go any further.

They both work in the NHS as well, and are hugely qualified. I wondered if anyone on these boards knew anything about the situation in Bristol?
