I am 22 years old and I recieved a breast reduction last year. I know I was not as big as some of you but I too am a size 8 bottom and was a size 14 top. I was a 34/DD and was told I was going to go down to a CorB. Depending on whether or not I looked proportioned as a C. Anyways here I am 6 months later and I am still wearing D cup-DD cup bras. Not only am I barely smaller than I was but my right breat is now significantly bigger then my left one. If I would have known that this was going to happen I would have just lived through the pain of having larger breasts.

Hi Everyone on my wave length,

Ok so I feel old with my reduction. I had a breast reduction on the NHS in Feb 1995, the doctors told me not to get pregnant for at least 2 years. I took no notice and had a beautiful daughter 16 months later, however I couldn't breast feed just like the doctor said. Then in June 2003 I had a baby boy. I was advised that I would not be able to breast feed again, so I started my son on baby milk. Four days after my son was born my breast started to leak enough milk to feed an infant school, but my baby was not interested.

My advice to anyone out there who has no children and is worried about a breast reduction for breast feeding reasons I would say go with what you feel you will be happy with because the chances are you will be able to breast feed. I never breast fed but having the reduction was the best thing that I have ever done. Now nearly 10 years on I want an uplit can anyone help?

Hiya,

thanks elizabeth, and cher for your encouragement.I must say, i am really losing faith in the NHS, and am losing my will to fight anymore.I am so very tempted to contact my private consultant again and onca again arrange another date for surgery, but part of me is so unwilling to admit defeat.I know i more than qualify for this surgery on the NHS, but poor communication , and lack of empathetic healthcare professionals are making this such an uphill struggle. The psychologist i seen 2 weeks ago, said she wanted to see me "in one of the vacant slots in her clinics in the next few weeks"..HAS STILL NOT SENT ME AN APPT..IN FACT HER PERSONAL SECRETARY HAS NEVER HEARD OF ME!!!.This has been such an emotional rollercoaster, and the people who should be helping to alleviate the problem ,are only adding to the problem, causing upset and distress.I could have been recovering nicely just now had i just kept my 4th Nov date.

To Kerry who has been rejected for breast reduction

Change your GP. Take charge of this and get it done

I have 13 days left on my waiting list. I am 32HH size 12 bottoms & 22 top. I have always had large breasts but pregnancy made them worse. I was a 36K when breast feeding. I had no problem at all getting onto a waiting list. The only slight problem was my surgeon sugested I wait untill we complete our family. However I just said I could not do another pregnancy with the weight & stress of them.

I am so excited about the opp. Please let me know how you get on, and with your pregnancy

Hi there
Well , at last, i have a further appointment with (the nasty) psychologist. You may remember me mentioning that in a 40 minute consultation she had decided that i did not qualify for the surgery "on psychological grounds"...She reconsidered when i nearly hit her!! and i am now seeing her again on the 13th December.I am nervous.I feel she is intimidating me, and wanting a reaction from me.I will be prepared on the 13th.Keep you updated

Hi there,

Hope you all had a very happy christmas.Santa brought me some very sexy knickers, but alas he cant choose my bras..(cos i have to try them on before i buy)..oh roll on the day when i can pick up a nice sexy 34c from the 'sales' bucket.I must tell you some great news if you are looking for some nice underwear...I found a 'Bravissimo' store in Glasgow, and they have some lovely lingerie for the 'lucky over D cup ladies'!Seriously though i got a reasonably priced bra and knickers pretty set(not at the normal astronomical price i pay for bras)I was wearing the completely wrong size of bra too!!I was wearing a 36G,and i am actually a 34GG(much more comfortable of course).
Lastly, the best news kept to last...remember i was seeing the Psychologist on 13th? well she has referred me on to the surgeon, and hopefully i will see him soon.I am still very dissatisfied with the treatment i have had from the NHS (Glsgow), and i'll hold my breath just now, but i will certainly be penning a letter of complaint once i hae had surgery.

Hello to all of you!!!

We're all in the same boat...the big booby boat!! Very Happy

I, like you, am faced with the dilemma of having a BR (breast reduction). I've been considering this surgery for many, many, many years now. I'm now 32 years old, and found myself still pondering!!!! I know the benefits of BR are incredible, and I'll have lovely little boobies that I'll be able to parade in summer (instead of dreading hot days because I've exhausted my wardrobe and camouflage!!!!!!) I've now decided after years that I will have this life changing op, by hook or by crook!!!! One of the main reasons my mind was changed was after visiting Breasthealthonline. They offer informal, impartial advice and support. I think, knowing there were other people like me with the same problems and fears helped!!!!! Also, having such great support and advice from those who've been through BR surgery helped put my fears in to perspective!! Breasthealthonline offers advice and support on many topics, BR being one of them. They have a UK board especially for all us UK ladies facing problems with NHS approval and general advice.

So, please, please, please, if anyone is considering having a BR, please have a look! You don't need to post of you don't want to. There are soooo many posts and queries answered, I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for, including great advice pre and post op nutrition to help with healing.

Good luck to everyone facing this journey and well done to those who are now 'over the rainbow'

best wishes

Speranza Smile

Hi my name is Lorna I am 31 years old and a 32FF. My breasts and I have have had a bad relationship for years I HATE them. I am looking into having a reduction Privately basically becuase I dont want to go through the stress of trying to get it done on the NHS. I would like to hear from anyone who has gone down the Private route and generally anyone who wants to tell me about their experience. Particulary interested in recovery!!

Hi,i'm stacy and i am a 34hh bra size and i feel sympathy for everyone with a larger chest.
Good luck to everyone who wants or is/has gone through a reduction, just think of the great lingerie you'll be able to buy when your a smaller cup size.
But remember the bad old days of trying to find a bra which does'nt let you swing around and knock the next person into next week or when they pop out as you bend over.

Hello,
I'm a physician who has come across patients who desire reduction mammoplasty (Breast Reduction). The British NHS seems to be a system very similiar to the system I'm currently working. It appears the NHS may cover the surgery, but certain rules may apply as well as a significant wait. You may find some useful information at the following website: http://wwx.channel4.con/health/microsites/0-9/4health/body/sur_breast.html
Sincerely,
ArmyDoc

Hi, I'm currently recouperating from a breast reduction which i had towards the end of march through the NHS. Although i had to lose nearly 3 stone to meet the nhs criteria i did it. Before i went down for surgery i was told i'd probably need a morphine pump to administer pain relieve after the op(being a wimp i thought this sounded great) on coming round from the operation the pain was minimal. I have only taken paracetamol when needed and i feel fine. My scaring is begining to show now but is really clean and neat. For anyone who is unsure about the op take it from me its the best thing in the world i have so much more confidence now. I've gone from a 38gg to a 38d.

My surgery has changed my life i'm looking forward to going to the gym and not feeling like a freak. I'm now a size 14/16 instead of a size 14 bottom and a size 22 top.

hey i have sized 38 I breasts and i am just recently considering a breat reduction at the age of 18. i would like to do the operation but im not real sure how it willa ffect my life, and if the results are worth it, so i really would like to befriend women who have been through the same thing because i really am scared of the procedure. im not sure how to go about actually getting it done because i am a little bit overweight and one plastic surgeon told me to wait until i lose the weight, but i really have a hard time breathing at night from the weight on my chest.

HI GUYS, JUST COME ACROSS THIS SITE, GOSH I NEVER KNEW THAT SO MANY WOMEN FELT THE SAME AS I DID.

IN NOVEMBER 2000 I HAS A BILATERAL BREAST REDUCTION, I HAD A WONDERFUL GP AND AN EXCELLENT PLASTIC SURGEON. THAT WAS THE EASY BIT, THE HARD BIT WAS TELLING PEOPLE WHY I WANTED THE SURGERY. PICTURE THIS.. IM 4'11" TALL, SMALL FRAMED AND I HAD A 36G BRA SIZE. THE TINNIEST OF WAISTS AND THE BIGGEST BOOBS YOU HAVE EVER SEEN , WITH THE WORST BACK ACHE TO GO WITH IT, GETTING PREGNANT AND HAVING A CHILD DIDNT HELP MY CAUSE ANY,. THEY GREW.

ONE DAY I WAS BATHING MAY DAUGHTER AND COULDNT STRAIGHTEN UP I HAD TO CALL MY PARTNER UP WHO WAS WITH GUESTS TO HELP ME STAND, THAT WAS THE DAY I DECIDED SOMETHING HAD TO BE DONE .

IF PEOPLE THINK VANITY IS INVOLVED IN THE PROCESS, THEN LET ME TELL YOU, 3 HOURS OF SURGERY, RECOVERY AND DRAINS, 130+ STITCHES AND DRESSINGS, IF LIKE ME YOUR UNLIUCKY ENOUGH TO GET AN INFECTION THEN WOH !!AND THEN THE HYPOTROPHIC SCARS, 6 YEARS ON I STILL HAVE SCARS, IV'E ASIAN SKIN AND AM PRONE TO SCARRING- BUT DONT LET THIS PUT YOU OFF, ITS THE BEST THING I HAD EVER DECIDED ON AND IM GLAD I HAD THEM DONE., I DONT KNOW HOW LONG I COULD HAVE MANAGED WITH THE BACK PAINS AND THE SHOULDER PAINS ANY MORE . I STILL CARRY GROOVES IN MY SHOULDERS FROM THE BRA STRAPS AS A REMINDER OF THE FORMER ME.

DUE TO MY YEARS OF BAD POSTURE 2 YEARS AGO I HAD A SLIPPED DISC, THE WHOLE THING HAS A KNOCK ON EFFECT ON YOUR HEALTH.

SO- GO SEE YOUR GPS AND SEE A COUNCELLOR TRUST ME IT HELPS. AND GET THEM DONE, DESPITE THE PAIN AND SCARRING IM SO GLAD I DID.

Embarassed

ummmm...where to begin I feel kind of stupid feeling so unhappy about the size of my bust but I have had enough and didn't know where else to turn...

I am currently 23 yrs and a size 34ff, I know it isn't that big in comparison to most on here and I feel stupid for feeling this way, but I can't do it anymore...another summer wearing baggy jumpers and zip up tops.

I am a size 12/14 bottom (in the process of slimming world) but have given up finding anything for the top half as I can barely stand to look down anymore, I can't run anymore because it hurts so much and I ache for days after, my boyfriend is lovely but I hate not wearing a top during intimate times.

Can anyone help me with some advise please? I would like to have a breast reduction but have no idea if I am even big enough to qualify...

Would really appreciate some gudience
