Hi,
I'm newly registered to this site and suffer with Fibromyalgia/osteoarthritis. I am seeing a surgeon tomorow for a review for a breast reduction. I would like to know if there are any other ladies out there who have had a reduction and it has helped their muscle pain?
Also, Amitriptylene drug...awful, made me tired in mornings even when i took early. Is there a drug anyone knows of to help the pain, not the tiredness?
Many thanx

Hi I am newly registered. I had to join so I could post a reply in defence of somersetgirl.

I would like to ask lillybee, have you bothered to find out what fibromyalgia is? No I don't suppose you have. People like you make me sick. You are nothing more than an opinionated bigot.

For your information, fibromyalgia DOES exist. Many of us are tested for MS in the early stages, because THAT IS HOW BAD OUR PAIN IS and our symptoms are very similar.

In future, before you make accusations about things you know nothing about, CHECK YOUR FACTS.

Oh dear me Lillybee, that's unfair, unkind, selfish, ignorant, uneducated of you, and what goes around comes around too... Fibromyalgia is real I can assure you as a sufferer... I can also assure you, that I do not claim benefits of any kind at all, I don't use disabled bays either. Some Fibromyalgia sufferers are in very serious pain and if they do claim it's because they need it for their disablement. I have worked all my years and have never, ever claimed benefits in my life...Unable to work for a few years now, but still don't use the system to which I am entitled to anyway.... I really feel sorry, really sorry for you, you don't have a clue, do you? Yeah, call it fibromyarse but you know what that's where you need a kick, bet that would hurt.,think that's pain, well imagine having that pain 24/7....except worse... I'm not going to waste anymore time, energy on a waste of space like you.....

Thank you for your opinions, I still have the same views and as none of you know me you have no idea what I do. I do know what I am talking about 90% of you are malingerers and claiming benefits. You like nothing more than to sit and complain about how disabled you are and how you cannot lift a finger to help yourselves. If any of you woke up in a third world country where you either work or starve, how many of youy would be so self absorbed then.

@lillybee
It seems quite sad that you have this closed mind and feel they need to spout such uninformed rubbish. This disease that you say does not exist is recognised by the following institutions:

US National Institute of Health (it estimates that 1 in 50 americans suffer from Fibromyalgia)
NHS / NHS Direct
BMA
US Federal Drug Administration
Ministry of Defense
EULAR - The European League Against Rheumatism
All the major Insurance Companies

There are lots more of these organisaitons that are more informed than you. There are also many medical papers that have contribute to the body of knowledge that is growing by this much misunderstood condition.

If you would like to find out more about this condition and correct your very ill informed and ignorant opinion then you could start [wwxhttp://wwx.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=pubmed&Cmd=DetailsSearch&Term=%22fibromyalgia%22%5BMeSH+Terms%5D+OR+fibromyalgia%5BText+Word%5D]here where there are 4586 articles by DR's (those people whose opinion on medical matters actually counts) on this supposed imaginary condition.

I can only speak for myself but I suffer from Fibromyalgia, yet receive no aid from the state, run a small company as best I can, and try and have the best life with my family as I possibly can. You labe FM sufferers as malingerers yet the true pain that I suffer from this illness is the worry in my childs eyes when I lift him up and he sees the grimace of pain cross my face and he then worries thathe has done something wrong.

I do not expect to change your opinion but I cannot have others come across this thread and leave as ill informed as you obviously are. Please take my advice and do some research and then rather than your opinion you may be able to speak some facts.

regards

My grandad died in a tank burned alive, defending this country so we could invent pathetic conditions for pathetic people.

lillybee, go find something other than cyber talk, or are you incapable of talking face to face in real life. You obviously lack in alot of life skills and are ignorant of this illness and the people who suffer, most people who have this has probably done more, worked harder and have more kindness than you will ever know, As for saying that you may have an illness but dont need to broadcast it on forum, what the hell are YOU doing on here,!!!!!!!!!!! you are a sad lonely deperate excuse for a human with no soul, that has to jump from forum to forum trying to get attention from anyone who will take note,
Everyone has a right to their own opinion, but not to be so personal and insulting
What does anyone care about what you do, you say you work in a boring office, well what do you expect if you are there.
what goes around comes around so I always think twice before I judge anyone, but with YOU I couldnt care. Enjoy your boring life while you can, because most people who suffer with long term illnesses did just that once

Again you are showing your ignorance.....

Perhaps if you read this [wwxhttp://wwx.patient.co.uk/showdoc/40001921/]document you would see that Fibromyalgia has been around since long before WW1.

Again please alleviate your ignorance and feel free to come back when you have educated yourself. If you need more links I will happly provide them. Those institutions I listed earlier all have at least a definition on their websites and many also carry medical studies and papers on the conditions.

These include studies with control groups and implementation of proper scientific protocols. Next you will be holding to the opinion that the sun revolves around the earth........

1) Not mentioning illness: This is a health forum, what the heck else are we going to be talking about?
2) Your granfather died in the war? Mine didn't he survived the first WW but suffered from that 'malingerers' illness shellshock and beat the beejezus out of his wife and children because of it. He fought in the war so that we would have freedom and a caring society.
3) Pathetic people? Do you know us? Have we ever met? Do you know anyone who suffers from FM? I have met many people who like to belittle others to make themselves look important. I have met many people with poor literacy skills. I have met many people who liked to spout off about things they knew nothing about. And I have met many people who are ill-educated but try to hide the fact by pretending they are cleverer than others. These are pathetic people.
I think I have just come across another one.

you are all funny. you are all calling me for being insulting, ignorant, etc etc. there is more venom coming at me than from me, and I am not bothered. I am entitled to my opinion as you all are to yours. If you don't like my views you are all as free to leave as I am. Again thank you for your replies and your views

Agree we don't know you, but we are responding to your opinion of Fibromyalgia and the attack you have sent upon us and judging us unfairly. Well the same goes for you, you don't know us, what we suffer and what we do, so don't defend yourself on that line.

Also I have grandfathers, forefathers, ancestory of relatives who died for this country, so that does not justify your opinion either. We could all argue the same point. Next time you post, make sure you have studied Fibromyalgia properly, then maybe you'll have a proper opinion.

Well lillybee...tut,tut,tut. Should'nt of started replying to my post on illness when you were'nt even bothered about it...just bored and wanted to be cruel!
You have just hurt people with you're ignorance and you started it. You should have put up you're own post and left others alone, calling us 'malliningerers' now!>
I have worked all my life, last few years in and out of hospital, doctors, scans, pills.off work, back to work etc etc.
I was a very happy active person but coped with my pain for so long. Gave up my own business last year because of this and my social life has ground to a halt. I'm not feeling sorry for myself and HOW DARE YOU call ill people scroungers etc.
If you 'were' ill at all (or come to that a feeling human being)...no way would you act the way you are.
I still stick with calling you a 'saddo'
Its ignorant people like you i feel sorry for...and i still run my own home, care for my husband and do things for society so, good luck in wasting you're employers money on putting idle c**p on forums whilst so-called working!!!
End of !

I do not think my posts have been fillled venom, but they have at least been accurate and not ignorant, Your posts however have been insulting, ill informed, ignorant and factually incorrect as the links I have quoted atest to.

You are entitled to your opinion, and I applaud that frredom that we still have in this country. However an opnion can be incorrect, and your disbelief of the existance of the condition fibromyalgia is laughably absurd. I have replied to your ignorance with links to pages that can inform you yet you just repeat the same ill informed sentiment.

This may amuse you, and you may get your kicks from mocking people with Cancer and heart disease for all I know. If this is the case then there is little that anyone can say to change your mind. Maybe, you will be "blessed" by your opinion being changed by experience ....... But then I again I would not wish this on you....
