I am pissed off with all the whingers in Britain, where are the normal, healthy, working people????
We have more so called disabled in this country than in all the third world countries put together, including the starving, landmine hellspots and disaster areas.
The official fighures show at least a third of the people on incapacity benefits are swinging the lead, get off your lazy fat backsides and get a job |

Don' tyou think people on here are maybe p****d off with a nasty saddo like you, thats why you don't get replies!
At least you CAN work so get on with you're job and stop skiving coz you're bored!
Don't EVER comment on an illness you know NOTHING about again.Think yourself lucky you can get out of bed in the morning without alot of pain!
It's people like you that give bullies a bad name. Oh...were you one at school or is it just your adult life?
Go and find another forum like 'JOKES'...that should fit your brain capacity!
I might have a life of pain but at least i don't criticise others and be nasty to people.
Ahhhh, forget it,you ain't worth it !!!!!!!!!!! |

hiya lillybee
the official figgures according to cpag state that benefit fraud is 0.5% for incapacity benefit http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7223687.stm
thou i would consider myself disabled (i have fibromyalgia, hypothyroidism, and osteoarthritis) i am fortunate in that i'm still able to work and provide for my family. thou i have medical challenges i don't whinge, i get on with life as well as i'm able to. i don't appreciate being called a whinger because i have a disability, i used to be a 'normal' healthy working person and hope to be able to continue to work, however if my health declines further and my employer is unable to find alternative work for me that i would be capable of i will be forced to claim incapacity benefit, does that mean i'm lazy??? i don't think so, i'm just unfortunate enough to have a medical condition that makes life difficult.
My partner claimed incapacity benefit when he was ill, he was unable to go back to his previous employment as he's not able to do that job anymore, he's back working now doing what he is able to, i definately don't consider him lazy(nor is he fat), he wasn't 'swinging the lead' and did have a well paid job to go back to if he were capable of it.
I do realise that there are some people on benefits that take advantage of the system, and it is these people that create the attitude that all people on benefits are benefit cheats, or malingerers.
take care

| well that is a coincidence, I have hypothyroidism and osteoarthritis, I had rheumatic fever age 10, that left me with a heart murmer. I am fit and healthy due to lifestyle and diet and sheer good luck. Read the rest of the article you kindly quoted, the figures are disgusting for a wealthy nation such as this. The 0.5% fraud is not explained, it could be that is the sum total, it could be numbers caught working and claiming. Figures are read differently by opposing groups. My point was we are spending billions on benefits, between incapacity, disability, carers mobility etc etc etc. Where are the the healthy people, we need them, someone has to keep paying taxes to fund our unhealthy nation |

i considered myself healthy and well when it was just hypothyroidism and osteoarthritis that i had to contend with. i lead a healthy lifestyle and watch my diet. i wasn't so lucky in that i did develop further ill health.
I share your frustration with the people who claim benefits fraudulently, however as a tax payer i do understand that people who need help should recieve it, i do believe that those that are fit and well should be working and contributing to society, and that those who do not have the skills and abilities needed for long term employment should be given access to training to get the skills they need.
I firmly believe that the vulnerable people in society should be helped and protected, i also know a number of people who would dearly love to be able to work who cannot due to ill health, thou they have worked in the past and contributed their share of taxes when they were working for 20 or more years before being beset by ill health.
I will continue to work for as long as i am able, i will retrain if needed so that i can continue to be a contributing member of society. there are a large number of people with disabilities that continue to work, so it's not just the 'fit and healthy' that pay taxes.
I do agree the percentages are not explained and know all too well that different groups will view the same figgures and reach different conclusions.
thou billions are spent on benefits there's an awful lot of that money that goes to the administration of the benefits, as opposed to the actual claimaints http://wwx.dwp.gov.uk/asd/asd1/stats_summary/Stats_Summary_Nov_2007.pdf this shows that there were more incapacity claims closed than were claimed (being the most recent available statistics)
take care

What's the betting.....Lil has been prosecuted by the DWP for benefit fraud.
Pity she didn't get 10years hard labour.
Wonder if she pays for her Medication?
I hope so........she's too proud to claim benefits and too healthy from all accounts |
