Following all the fuss about John Lydon's use of swear words I just wanted to let you know that I have a song that would be just right for 'I'm a Celebrity - Get Me Out of Here' and no matter what John does:

JOHNNY ROTTEN'S STILL MY HERO

The Queen's a reptile
David Icke said so
So maybe the Pistols got it right
Maybe they were fighting the good fight
It's the year 2 on twenty twenty zero
Johnny Rotten's still my hero.

That she's not human is something Johnny said
Diana called the family lizards
And that's something that I read
It's the year...etc

The Pistols got to number 1
But from the charts they were deleted
So much for freedom and democracy
But punk won't be defeated

It's the year 2 on twenty twenty zero
Johnny Rotten's still my hero
We're the Somethings and we've got it all planned
We don't care if we get banned!

Story behind this song:
The Jubilee 2002 was the inspiration and also David Icke's reptile conspiracy theory. It was recorded in Raven studios in Camberley, where I was backed by a new girl group called The Somethings. We had met at a gig I was playing at the West End Centre, Aldershot and they became my fans. I inspired them to put a band together and they said they would love to support me. I said we could go one better and they could back me on a recording. I live over 100 miles away from them so it was difficult to rehearse and we only had one in one of the girl's houses. So it was very much a rushed job and very in the DIY spirit of punk rock!

..........Johnny Rotten is still my hero...

Brief: What a great song. I'll be honest, I don't know if you are mocking someone or really being serious in terms of the message of the song, but still it appeals to me on many levels. I actually was a fan of the sex pistols, so there's that aspect. I write mostly folk tunes now, so there's that, and I like politically charged songs. It's a trifecta for me.

Review:
Songwriting quality (9 of 10) This is a very well written song. It reminds me, in terms of writing, to some of the early political folk activists like dylan, and baez. The unique vocals define this one as an original though.

Vocals (9 of 10) I really like the vocals and lyrics presented in the song. I think to oversing a song about the sex pistols would be too much. The laid back style used for singing is perfect for this song. There is a really nice reverb on the voice as well. The layered female acapella vocals at the end of the song was also a nice touch.

Music (9 of 10) The acoustic guitar was great, but let me just say that I LOVE the "flute?" at the beginning of the song as well as the accents throughout. They add a dramatic element to the song, and make it more powerful. Amazing how one instrument can do that.

Overall (9 of 10) This song is a great listen. As I mentioned in my brief, I am probably "predisposed" to like it. That being said, even for the casual folk listener, there are plenty of elements to make this song a worthwhile listen.

Awesome song Bard! In fact, so good it's now hosted on the Unsigned Band Web!
